Brittany giggled as she sprinted around a little field she found on Route 1. Joy, who was now a Togetic, was flying around, trying to catch her as all of the other blonde’s Pokemon watched them. Joy finally caught up to her trainer and landed on her head, making Brittany fall to the ground in a giggling fit. The rest of her team decided to run over to them and dog pile Britt. They all had a good laugh, even though Ballad was confused most of the time, and eventually got off of her, allowing her to get up. The blonde and her team decided to start leaving when she heard a rustling in the grass.
Suddenly, a flash of blue, black, and yellow shot out of the tall grass nearby, immediately attacking her feet. Brittany jumped a little, but then, when she finally realized what was playing with her feet, she let out a small laugh and her eyes softened. It was a little Shinx. She guessed it wanted to play with them, too. She knelt down and picked it up. The Pokemon immediately started nibbling in her fingers. So, she set it down and began sprinting again. This time, the little Pokemon shot after her.
After playing for a while longer, the coordinator sat down next to the Shinx and they started talking. It was astonished that Brittany could understand it, but it got over it pretty quickly. She found out that the creature was, in fact, a girl and they spoke about Brittany’s life and the Shinx’s life. Eventually, the sky turned a various array of oranges and pinks, and Brittany knew she had to leave or Mercedes would get worried. That was the last thing she wanted, so she hopped up and waved goodbye to the Shinx. But, oddly, it followed her all the way to the edge of town, and finally asked to join her team. She gladly accepted and grabbed a pokeball from her bag and held it out. Once the Pokemon consented, the girl threw it and waited. The pokeball twitched a bit more than usual, but eventually settled down. She picked it up, grinning, and skipped back to Zoey’s house, eager to show everyone her new pokemon.
Mercedes just sat there smiling at Brittany. She was mesmerized by everything she said. She imagined Brittany doing all those things, every detail. “Yeah, the clouds were… nice.” Mercedes was short on words. Her mind was blocked by the images of Brittany that ran through her head. “Well, I just went on walks around the city. I battled this one guy named Adam who was really nice. Other than that I didn’t do much.” Mercedes was doing her best to stay calm and when she realized the Brittany didn’t really noticed she relaxed. Kovu was getting bored, there wasn’t much for him to go here. He played with Joy some more, being careful not to hurt her. Mercedes looked into the menu and couldn’t deiced what to eat. “What do you think you’ll get?”
Brittany smiled at the mention of the trainer. “Oh really? How did it go? I bet you and your pokemon did so well! I wonder what battling’s like. I’ve never battled, myself. I don’t know how well my pokemon would do.” She took a sip of her drink and looked down at the menu. “Hm… I may just get a burger or something,” she looked up at her, “You know what you want yet?” While the girls were inside, Joy kept playing with Kovu. She kind of wanted to see Brittany, but she knew she was busy. Thankfully, Kovu was really nice and was patient with her. Back inside, the blonde ran a hand through her hair, still trying to decide what she wanted.
Mercedes watched Brittany, every motion. She saw Brittany have a surprised expresion, but it passed and Mercedes became confused, wondering what made her feel that way. She followed Brittany to the table and sat across from her. She loved seeing Brittany smile, it was always such a bright smile that always made her smile back. This place was more of a diner so there were plenty of things to choose from. “So, uh, what have you found when you go exploring?” Mercedes was trying to think of anything, but she was so nervous. She was so close to Brittany and it made her heart jump. She went to react for her drink, but her hand was shaking like crazy and put it back down. Mercedes looked down, hoping that Brittany didn’t notice her behavior.
Brittany tapped her chin, trying to remember what she had seen. The town wasn’t too big and there were only a few interesting places. “Um, well, obviously, I saw the museum. Oh, and there’s the old gym. It isn’t in use anymore. And then there was a bar. I think it was called Bismuth Bar or something.” She shrugged, not noticing how nervous Mercedes really was because she was so wrapped up in trying to remember. “Other than that, there wasn’t much. I did find two items. One when I was out the other day with Lily and the other laying by the tents. THe clouds were so pretty that day.” She grinned at the girl again and took a sip of her drink. “So, what have you been doing while we’ve been here?”
Mercedes tried her best to calm down, but she felt like it was no use. “Hey Britt. Uh, yeah I found this place when I was out on a walk one day. They have pretty good food too.” Kovu was now trying to paw at Joy, ignoring his obviously nervous trainer and the oblivious blond. He was so focused on Joy that he forgot the Brittany can understand pokemon and began to talk to himself, “Doesn’t she get it? Mercedes likes her, not that hard to see.” Mercedes was to distracted by her thoughts of Brittany that she didn’t notice Kovu and just walked into the resturant. “Uh, why don’t we get a seat?” She said as she motioned Brittany to enter.
“Awesome! I completely missed this place when I was exploring the other day.” Brittany giggled at Joy and Kovu playing. Joy was obviously happy to see Kovu again and she was having a good time escaping his paw. She started to follow Mercedes in when she heard him say something. She shook her head. She couldn’t figure out if she heard him wrong or- No that was it. She shrugged the thought off and nodded in agreement. “Sure!” The blonde walked into the restaurant and asked one of the waiters in front for a table for two. He takes them back in the restaurant to a smaller table with two chairs. “Thanks!” she said to him as he walked off. She sat down and smiled up at the girl, waiting for her to do the same.
Mercedes was extremely excited, by also really nervous. She liked Brittany, a lot actually, and the only other person that knew was Kovu. I guess that’s not a good things see as how Brittany could understand what pokemon were saying. She was sitting on a bench infront of a small restaurant she had found one day. It was a nice place, amazing food. Kovu was busy trying to capture bugs when Mercedes began to question this dinner. “Well, it’s not like this is a date, right? It’s just us having dinner, no big deal. But what is I freak out and say I like her. Kovu, what should I do?” She began to panic, but it was too late. Palms sweaty she saw the blonde walking down the street with Joy in her arms.
Finally, Brittany spotted Mercedes and Kovu right outside a restaurant she hadn’t seen before. She smiled and skipped up to them. “Oh good! For a second I thought I got lost. Wouldn’t be the first time.” The blonde laughed and let Joy play with one of her fingers. “Hi, Cedes! Hey, Kovu! Thanks for inviting me to hang out, by the way. It was getting a little boring in the tent. And this place looks really cool! I don’t think I’ve come across it yet.” She was so busy looking around that she hadn’t noticed the girl’s nervous behavior. Well, not until she finally got a good look at her. She furrowed her brow and asked, “Are you okay?” Concern colored her features. Why would the girl be so…off? Was it because they didn’t get to talk or hang out much? The blonde pushed away the thoughts and waited for her reply.
Brittany was lying around the tents with Joy. She really didn’t have any plans for that night, which wasn’t unusual. But she didn’t mind very much. It was just getting a little boring since the rescue and everything. Actually, this city was getting a little boring. As much as she liked the museum, it could get a bit old. She heard her phone going off and grabbed it. It was Mercedes. After a few texts, they decided to go out to get dinner. So, Brittany hopped up and walked into her tent, grabbing a brush and running it through her hair to get the grass out, if there was grass, anyway. Straightening her skirt, she walked out and picked up Joy, and headed into town. Once she arrived, she looked around for Mercedes, hoping she was in the right place.
Brittany made her way to the museum like Professor Lopez asked. She only remembered now that she read something about a reward. She didn’t really mind not getting anything, but she wouldn’t just say no. The blonde walked up to the scientist nearest to the table with all of the fossils. “They’re all so cool!” she said, bouncing on the balls of her feet. ”Well, you can have any one you’d like since you helped so much,” he said. “Ooooh, that one looks like a weird Squirtle shell! Do you mind if I take that one?” He smiled at her and shook his head. “Not at all. The cover fossil’s all yours.” She giggled and picked it up. “Thank you!” she called over her shoulder as she skipped away.
Brittany was lying on the grass, looking up at the clouds. It was a gorgeous day and the clouds were so fluffy, the blonde couldn’t resist watching them, seeing if they’d make any shapes. One looked like a Pikachu and another looked exactly like a Cleffable. She giggled and kept searching as Joy tottered off to look at a flower a few feet away from her. “P-pwetty!” The blonde heard her Togepi say something. “What was that?” She crawled over to Joy and sat down again near the flower. Joy repeated herself and Brittany nodded. “It really is! I wonder what kin- What’s that?”
Brittany had spotted something glinting near a small tree and cocked her head. “Did you see that, too?” Joy nodded and the blonde hopped up, walking carefully over to the shiny object. “Oh!” She picked it up once she saw what it was. One of the travellers that stayed at her home had one just like it. She took it over to the Togepi. “Look! It’s a golden leaf! We can trade it in for a bunch of stuff! You wanna show the rest of the team?” Joy agreed and Brittany scooped her up and skipped off toward her pokemon.
Brittany was walking around on the outside of Pewter City. There really wasn’t much to do, other than the museum. It was really interesting and the employees knew so much about fossils, but even that got old after a while. So, off to the more woodsy outskirts she went. She was holding Joy in her arms, as always, as she skipped alongside Lily. A Pidgey flew by and she got distracted long enough for Lily to disappear.
When Brittany looked over to check on the Petilil, she was no where in sight. The blonde frowned. “Lily? Where’d you go?” As soon as she said that, the little green pokemon burst through the bushes carrying something almost her size. “What’ve you got there?” She knelt down, setting Joy on the ground and grabbing the object. “Oh, I’ve seen these! It’s a Big Mushroom! Oh, thanks, Lily! You’re so awesome!” She picked Lily up and hugged her lightly, earning a squeal of delight. “Okay, you two, let’s go show the group!”
Brittany was walking to the beach in Vermillion for Quinn’s birthday party. She was so excited to be able to see everyone again and to give the birthday girl her presents. She made a card with an Entei on the front off it and a sweet little message inside and then went searching on the beach for shells an picked the prettiest one to give her as she didn’t have any extra money to spend. The blonde hoped Quinn didn’t mind. Picking up the pace a little, she started skipping ahead of her team, because the beach was nearly in sight. Suddenly she heard a loud “Duuuuuuuuuck!” She stopped and turned on her heels, jogging up to her Psyduck. “Ballad? Ballad, are you okay? What happened?” The Pokemon had tripped over something and fallen down, which made it more disoriented than usual.
She helped him stand up and brushed him off, patting him on the head. “Why don’t you go on ahead. I’ll catch up with you guys in a minute, okay?” It huffed and started waddling toward the beach with the rest of her Pokemon. Well… all except for Joy. Spotting the little Togepi she giggled and picked her up. “Wanted to stay with me? Oh, what’s that, little girl?” Joy was holding a Pokeball from the looks of it. “Is this what he tripped over?” The tiny Pokemon nodded and handed it to her. “Thank you. Oh! I know what it is now! It’s a Great Ball! I needed a new one of these, you’re the bestest, Joy.” She nuzzled the giggling Pokemon in her arms and looked ahead. “Come on, we’re gonna be even more late to the party!” Brittany clutched the Pokemon tight to her chest and resumed skipping, in an even better mood than she started with.
Brittany was all alone in her hometown once again. Well, almost. She didn’t mind, though. They were going to look for Zoey, so it was okay. She just hoped that they’d all be safe. She was rather bored after the rest of Team SC left and Mike trained, so she decided to go on a walk with her Pokemon to the water. She hadn’t been in quite a while, so it would be nice, she thought. She made it all the way to Route 25 and to the coast, pulling off the extraneous clothing to reveal a swim suit, and sitting down and putting her feet in the water. She closed her eyes and enjoying the feeling of the water washing over her skin, letting out a soft sigh. It was nice to be home for a while. Suddenly, she thought about Spinner again. She hoped he was okay. But she was sure he was. He was tough and spying on the boys shouldn’t be too hard. A picture would have been helpful for him, but he’d figure it out.
Joy pulled her out of her thoughts by tugging at her skirt and raising her arms, wanting to be picked up. “Aw, come here, little girl.” She picked her up and gave her a kiss on her forehead. “Better?” Joy let out a delighted sound and Brittany giggled, “Good.” She put the tiny Pokemon on her lap and looked back out to sea. It was fairly calm that day, the waves weren’t too big. It seemed almost too perfect to be real. Dipping her hand in the water, she pulled out a little sand and let it run through her fingers back into the water.
Out of the corner of her eye, she saw something of a yellowish, gold color standing near her. Turning her head slowly, she was met with the sight of a rather confused Psyduck. It looked like it was weathered because it was panting slightly, like it took a large amount of energy just to waddle. “Are you okay? You don’t look so good. Here,” she began, lifting Joy off her lap and walking over to the Psyduck on her knees. “Can I take a look at you? I just want to see if you’re hurt.” The Pokemon only tilted it’s head and let out a confused ‘Duuuuuuck?’ She went ahead and looked at him anyway, lifting his wings and checking for cuts. He was scraped up and seemed to be more confused than he normally would. “What happened?” The Pokemon pointed to the sharp rocks a ways down and Brittany frowned, running over to her bag.
Biting her lip, she rummaged through her bag. She left everything important at home because she didn’t think she’d need anything. “Oh, darn. Um… Wait! I know!” She pulled out the heal ball and showed it to the Psyduck. “I think this will work, but you’ll have to agree to come with me, okay?” It just stood there, but it didn’t object, so Brittany threw the ball at him, watching it twitch a few times before going still. She grabbed it and released the Psyduck, hoping it worked. The Pokemon appeared, much healthier and without any injures. “Oh thank goodness! You’re okay!” The blonde knelt down and hugged the Pokemon tightly, earning another, “Duuuuuck.” Only this time, it was more grateful than confused.
“So, you’re okay with coming with us?” The Pokemon nodded and Brittany smiled. Another member added to her team. She just hoped she found another pokeball by the time she saw Spinner again. Shrugging off the thought, she tapped her chin. “I’ll have to name you later.”
Brittany shielded her eyes from the sunlight shining down on the little clearing she found earlier when she was exploring Route 6. It was a gorgeous day and she just had to go out exploring. Joy tottered along after her for a while before the blonde scooped her up and kept walking until they were at the clearing. She decided to dance a little, because she hadn’t in too long for her taste. At home, she’d dance every day if she could, but traveling didn’t allow her to do so quite as often as she used to, so she took every chance she got.
Using her phone to play music, she set it on the ground and started to make up moves as she went along when she spotted it. A little green leafy looking Pokemon was trying to dance like her. It was twirling around and nearly fell over. Brittany giggled and stopped dancing for a moment to inch a little closer to the little Pokemon before kneeling down in front of it. She pulled out her Pokedex and held it near the little creature. The device came to life and identified it as a Petilil.
Grinning at the tiny Petilil as it blinked at her a few times, finally deciding to get closer to the bubbly blonde. “I can teach you a lot more about dancing if you want!” The small creature looked pleased and hopped up and down in it’s place. So, Brittany helped teach it for a little longer before the two were both tired. When she decided she should go, the coordinator bent down to talk to the Petilil once again. “Would you like to come with me and Joy and Mickey? I can teach you even more if you want!” The little green Pokemon showed it’s approval by twirling around and then stood very still. Brittany stood up and threw a pokeball at it. It twitched once or twice and then went completely still. She had caught her first Pokemon.
Brittany had broken away from the group for a while. She just wanted to get away from the city for a bit and enjoy a walk and some fresh air, so she went walking on one of the routes closest to the city. She didn’t bother looking to see which one because she knew she wouldn’t go far and could always use her map if she did. Skipping along, she held Joy tight to her chest and looked around herself with awe. It was so different to Cerulean, no beaches, no water pokemon, just grass and trees. The blonde avoided the tall grass with ease, staying clear of all pokemon she may encounter.
As they went along, she nuzzled her Togepi’s head every so often, earning little sounds from the tiny creature. She giggled and dais, “You’re so sil-” But before she could finish, she stepped on something lightly that rolled out from her foot, making her lose balance and fall to the ground. She rolled onto her back on the grass so that she wouldn’t injure Joy and looked down at her pokemon who was nearly crying. When she finally calmed down little Joy, she went to investigate what it was that made her trip.
Retracing her steps she saw a small glint in the sunlight and bent over to pick it up, her mouth turned up into a grin. It was a pokeball, and a pink one at that. She didn’t know the design, all she knew was that it was special and that she had found it. Still grinning, Brittany skipped back along the trail to show her travel companions her new find.
Sugar checked the map on her pokédex again, just to make sure she was going the right way. She could kind of see the Pokémon Center from where she was, but there were so many side streets and alleyways that it took her quite a while to actually get there. When she was within a few feet of it, she grinned in relief and hurried to enter the center, rubbing the tear tracks on her face away as best she could.
She saw Harmony first and smiled, hurrying over to her girlfriend and tapping her on the shoulder lightly. “Hey there, Har.”
Brittany turned around at the sound of Sugar’s voice and grinned. Her face fell, however, moments later because she could clearly see signs of crying all over Sugar’s face. Her eyes were red and puffy and she had tear stains on her cheeks. “Sugar? Are you okay?” the blonde asked, concern filling her voice. She hated seeing anyone like this, especially her friends. She quickly went over to her and Joy, who was in her arms, looked like she would nearly cry herself. Putting a hand on Sugar’s shoulder gently she gave her a small, sympathetic smile.
Maybe, she thought, it would be best to leave the city as it was obviously causing her grief. She looked over at Harmony and then back at Sugar. “Do you guys wanna go to another city now? Maybe Cerulean like Mike suggested? We could sleep in a house instead of tents. And my parents could give us extra food and money and stuff.” She watched both girls, waiting for an answer. She just wanted to get Sugar’s mind off of whatever it was that was making her upset.
Looking up she squinted at the sun, seeingBrittanystanding above her holding her Togepi; she had to fight a grin because down right adorable and fitting for her to get the Pokémon. She seemed so chipper and you had one of the cutest things on earth in her arms…not that she’d ever say that out loud.
“Hi… and yeah this isCali, cute is one of the many, many words you could use” she smirked, shifting her hand away from another swipe. She seemed to treat it like a game and a good Pokémon was a happy one… might as well appease. Three days of cuts, sneak attacks and hiding; she’d come to accept her Pokémon was a playful little git… she lived it that way.
Watching the girl reach out her arm then take it back again made her roll her eyes, she had told her Cali liked to swipe so it wasn’t surprising; the girl seemed nice and it couldn’t hurt to be friendly… at least one, motioning for the blonde to sit down.“Fun could be one way to put it, she jumped out of a tree at Dave earlier… that was amusing.”
Brittany walked over and sat down next to the Latina, setting Joy on her lap. A small giggle escaped the blonde’s mouth picturing the event that Santana described. A big guy like Dave being scared by a tiny Pokemon like Cali was pretty funny. She scrunched her nose at the Togepi once before turning back to Santana with a grin. The girl seemed like she was in a better mood than the day before, but Brittany wouldn’t jeopardize that by being as curious as last time.
She looked down at her Togepi and smiled. It was attempting to do a little bit of the dance it learned earlier. She held out a hand for it to hold onto while she teetered about. Giggling, Brittany grabbed Joy and held her up high, bringing her back down and kissing her head. “You’re so silly, Joy.” This earned a delighted, “Briiiii,” from the little Pokemon.
She pushed a strand of blonde hair behind her ear after setting Joy down and spoke again. “So how have you been? Are you less grouchy than you were before?” she asked, unable to help poking the girl in the side very gently, a grin tugging at her lips.
